Technical Information

Chem-Pruf® was the first to design and build an integrally molded louver opening in its doors.  Chem-Pruf® offers custom sized and colored inverted vee louvers to be used in doors that best suit your application and air flow needs.  Screens can be mounted to prevent bugs and other unwanted debris from entering.

Chem-Pruf® inverted vee louvers are of flush construction.  The vanes consist of a 25-mil gel coat layer and two 1.5 oz. continuous strand fiberglass mats, saturated with resins by method of resin transfer in closed molds.  The gel coat layer is integrally molded as the part is made, and is the primary barrier against environmental and chemical attack.  Pultruded glass products do not have the molded-in gel coat protective barrier.  Resin transfer of the louver vanes ensures uniformity in color and size.  Chem-Pruf® louvers have a glass-to-resin ratio of at least 30:70.

All reinforcing resins contain a halogenated additive, or co-reactants with antimony trioxide.  Resins yield a maximum flame spread of 25, per ASTM E-84, and are self-extinguishing per ASTM D-635.  The use of ATH (Hydrated Aluminum Powder) to lower smoke propagation and depress ignitability is frequently utilized.
